Bulgarian sweet cherry growers find themselves contested along with imported cherries from the neighboring Turkey and Greece. According to the Bulgarian growers, although the price levels are identical traders and wholesalers prefer to purchase imported cherries due to the fact that Turkish and Greek cherries are well processed and packaged in professional processing and packing facilities whereas Bulgaria lacks the number of such facilities capable of processing the domestic production and adding value to the final product.
