According to the Philippines Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) forecast, the country’s total fish supply is at 3.35 million metric tons (MT), which would slightly exceed demand measured at around 3.33 million MT. Despite the COVID-19 triggered disruptions in the country’s food supply chain, Filipinos will have an adequate supply of fish, a staple food for the majority of the population, throughout the entire year. Milkfish is one of the main products that will be abundant and has the highest potential to have the largest number in the fishing industry to be exported to different countries this year 2020.
