In Côte d'Ivoire, the cashew and cotton sectors expect an overall loss of export earnings of around $ 410 million due to the economic consequences linked to the corona virus. The fall in demand linked to the global pandemic has led to a general devaluation of negotiated contracts.
In the case of cashew nuts sold mainly to Vietnam and India, the price per tonne has decreased from $ 1,400 to $ 900, representing a shortfall of more than $ 300 million for a stock of 600,000 tonnes for export.
