Peru will be trying twenty four (24) new varieties of sugar cane with higher content of sucrose and better adaptability of soil and climate.
These new varieties come from Brazil and will be tried in one of the biggest sugar producers in Peru located in La Libertad Region. For now the 24 varieties are in quarantine in Peru by the supervision of SENASA. Once the quarantine is over, seed will be distributed among other sugar cane producers.
Peru is one of the countries with the highest yields per Ha.
