A large number of rabbit breeders in South Africa have halted breeding activities due to the uncertainty that has emanated from the coronavirus pandemic. Since rabbits take roughly four months to mature, timing remains vital so as to avoid having large rabbit meat stocks on hand that cannot be sold. This may lead to a reduction in rabbit meat exports during the national lockdown period.
