Pakistan aspires to become a global player in olive oil

Pakistan has started olive oil production only in 2010 yet the country aims high in its production goals.
For the 2019/20 season, the country is estimating to reach a production capacity of 1,400 MT. Once fully dependent on foreign imports, Pakistan is working hard towards becoming a crucial global player in olive oil globally.
The country had the help of industry experts from Spain and Italy and imported a significant amount of olive trees to initiate the growth plan.
The country targets to grow the olive oil industry to 16,000 MT by 2027. Olive oil production growth presents new export oppoırtunities for Pakistani companies as well as offering locally produced products to the domestic market.
