Vietnam's salt production increases but high labor costs drive down profits

Despite the favorable weather this season, which led to the sharp increase in salt production volume, the profitability has decreased for salt producers in Vietnam. This is due to the fact that the cost of labor has taken up most of salt production cost, estimated at 0.3 USD/pack. Consequently, the farmers claimed to have a profit of only around 650 USD per hectare after 4 months of production.
