Argentina's first fishing vessels embarked on January 3, 2024 to the initial fishing zones at Parallel 49th South. Despite a significant number of vessels already departing, concerns arise as the initial results have not been promising in terms of squid volumes and sizes, especially in the S (200 to 300 g) and SS (100 to 200 g) categories, reminiscent of the previous season. Therefore, few vessels were redirected to the Southeast to boost catch volumes. During W1, prices stood around USD 3400 to 3500 per metric ton (mt) for SS and USD 3500 to 3600/mt for S, CFR-Main Ports.
