Almost 80% of the capsicum consumed by Aussies is imported.
Australia imports around 1,300 tonnes of fresh capsicums, with the vast majority sourced from New Zealand and smaller volumes imported from the Republic of Korea. Australia can only import from New Zealand and South Korea (only greenhouse-grown from Korea). The importation of capsicum is typically seasonal, with most being imported in September to February season.
