Spain's Asturian cheese producers to fight for European D.O.P.

Asturian cheesemakers in Spain are requesting European DOP protection for their raw milk cheeses. Six local producers who have been using raw cow milk for the production of artisanal cheese, yogurt, and other dairy products, are looking for the denomination as it will help them promote their products domestically and internationally.

The European Council will review their case to determine if the DOP is granted and in the case that it is, proceed to provide protection and promotion.
