Demersal fishes namely snapper (Lutjanus spp.) and grouper (Epinephelus spp), have been on low availability due to the extreme weather hitting Indonesian fishing grounds in Java sea, Natuna sea, Banda sea, Arafuru sea, Halmahera sea. Strong tides, massive headwind, and high intensity of rain, often put the fishing activity on temporary stop in the recent situation. Supplier in East Java area stated that the extreme weather will last up to early March, hence, fish landing is expected to become normal in mid of March forward.
