Following the United States (US) restricting avocado imports from Mexico, avocado prices have seen a proposed increase of 15% to 18% per size category during W25. This surge is due to reduced supply options and heightened market demand. Exporters are responding by offering increased prepayments to secure an adequate fruit supply, highlighting the competitive pressure in securing avocado shipments. Simultaneously, the price offered for Colombian avocados in the US market has risen by approximately USD 3 to 4 per 11.3 kilogram (kg) box. This price adjustment underscores the direct impact on import costs for US buyers, reflecting the shifting dynamics of avocado trade routes and market access restrictions.
