In the last cultivation season in Bangladesh, the rice production was meager. As a result, the price of refined rice increases day by day due to low supply. Thus, the Bangladesh government banned the export of all types of rice to the Ministry of Commerce with strict monitoring of market management. At the same time, if required, rice will be imported based on demand in the country, according to the Ministry of Food. According to wholesalers of Kawran Bazar, rice prices are continuing on the rise. Therefore, they believe that only an increase in rice imports can help to stabilize the rise in rice prices.
