Cashews are Benin's second-most valuable crop but the market has become unclear due to COVID. Around 20% of the crop is processed domestically with the remaining 80% being exported raw to Asian markets like India and Vietnam for processing. Travel restrictions have made trade more difficult and caused prices to drop, but suppliers are hopeful that as the global COVID situation improves, the market will become more clear.
