Turkey is one of the countries that has banned the usage of bleaching agents since 2013 in wheat flour production along with EU countries. The reason for the bleaching agents to be banned is that they might be causing cancer by the chemical additives used in the bleaching process such as chlorine, bromate, and peroxides. On the other hand, the usage of bleaching agents is allowed in the US and bleached flour is mainly consumed for waffle, pancake, and biscuit making.
