Following a seven-day Lunar New Year break, Vietnam's Northeastern border gates reopened on February 15, 2024, resulting in long lines of trucks awaiting customs clearance. While some Northwestern gates remained open during the holidays, they experienced increased goods traffic. Lao Cai Province, in particular, reported a surge in goods volume and import-export activities. At the Kim Thanh Border Gate, 61 businesses processed customs for 401 declarations, with exports including dragon fruit, durian, watermelon, grapefruit, jackfruit, rambutan, mango, and banana. Conversely, imports comprised vegetables and fruits such as cabbage, lettuce, garlic, apples, pears, grapes, oranges, and tangerines.
