Corn starch is being traded in Brazil at similar price levels of cassava starch due to the current low offer of cassava. However, farmers are reluctant to harvest cassava due to the long drought that occurred this winter, which affected the growth and the quality of the plant. Those who can, will await for the rainy season to harvest their cassava fields. The industry is having to pay more to originate enough raw material to be processed.
