The Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA) released the numbers of Brazilian chicken meat exports. In August, the increase was 11.3%, reaching 362.4 thousand tons. In the same month last year, the sum was 325.7 thousand tons. In revenue, there was a decrease of 10%, with a balance of US$ 497.8 million, against US$ 553.3 million in August 2019. In the accumulated result for the year (January to August), exports totaled 2.833 million tons, a volume 1.8% higher than that registered in the same period last year, with 2.784 million tons. In revenue, there was a decrease of 11.3%, with a total of US $ 4.14 billion in 2020, against US$ 4.66 billion in 2019.
Returning to second place in exports, shipments to Saudi Arabia were increased by 24% in August compared to the same period last year, with a total of 46.7 thousand tons in the month. Another highlight of the Middle East was the United Arab Emirates, which also increased its imports by 24%, reaching 25,800 tons in the month. Moving ahead among the main destinations, China increased its imports by 46% in August compared to the same month of 2019, totaling 54.7 thousand tons in the month. Still in Asia, exports to South Korea increased by 25%, with a total of 14.2 thousand tons. Another major consumer market for Brazilian chicken, the European Union increased its imports by 14% in August, totaling 21.8 thousand tons.
