The Brazilian Vegetable Oil Industry Association (Abiove) wants the Brazilian and North American governments and companies holding technology for transgenic crops to work together to synchronize authorizations for transgenic events.

It is argued that an alignment between the regulatory bodies of Brazil and the United States could reduce potential uncertainties regarding the need for import approvals, since, in general, Brazil and the USA have the same types of approved GMOs. The only difference lies is in the homologation process, which can generate legal uncertainties.
