According to the National Supply Company (Conab), the Brazilian forecasted output for cowpea and common beans this 2020/21 harvest season is 3.1 million tonnes, up 1.6% from the 2019/20 harvest. Of this, 1.9 million tonnes of colored common beans, 0.5 million tonnes of black common beans and 0.7 million tonnes of cowpea was harvested. The Brazilian state of Mato Grosso is expected to lead the national production of cowpea with 20% share and the state of Parana is expected to lead the production of both varieties of common beans with over 30% share.
