Brazilian farmers are switching sesame for maize crop this season

Sesame production at the main Brazilian hub, Mato Grosso, is expected to drop from 92 thousand to 60 thousand tones, down 35%, due to the farmer's preference for maize this year, which reached record prices. The situation could have been even worse had it not been for the short time frame available that favors the cultivation of sesame over maize.
