The growth of fruit exports in volume was 6% compared to the same period in 2019. The country generated revenue of US$ 512 million which is same as the last year. .The main exporting fruits were pineapple, orange, lemon, banana, apples, grape and mango. In 2019 orange exports were hampered due to phytosanitary problems identified in fruits exported to the European Union however in the season, the exports returned to normal.
The melon registered a small drop of 2% compared to last year, as a result of the delay in this harvest. Despite the delay, the product is of good quality and the volume is expected to increase in the coming months. A few months ago Brazil exported melon to China for the first time and now the expectation is that exports of this fruit in this season will double soon.
