The restrictive measures against covid-19 adopted in March-21 in various regions of the country resulted in the onion sales decline, affecting both southern markets and imports. In Ituporanga, prices fell 16.88% in February, at an average of R$ 1.92 / kg to the producer. In opposition, the Argentine onions, in general, of superior quality to Santa Catarina's produce, were sold to R$ 50.13 / 20 kg box, benefited at the border of Porto Xavier (RS), arriving at Ceagesp at R$ 67.37 in March. As for field activities, Irecê and Vale do São Francisco (PE / BA) regions started the harvest, even though the supply scarcity stood still throughout March. Even with the pandemic scenario hardening up, it is still favorable to the producer since stocks are balanced and margins remain higher than the production cost.
