Bulgaria exports over 150 tons of truffles

Bulgaria reportedly exports around 150-200 tons of truffles in a year and it is estimated that the country generates around $200 million in revenue and around 1% of the total production is distributed domestically.
There are 8 different truffle varieties being cultivated in the country and the government is applying strict rules for the cultivation.
Truffle cultivation in one and the same designated land can be done in a maximum of 20 kg per decare and hunting for truffles is subject to strictly control permits issued by official authorities and the minimum quantity can be no less than 10 kg.
