The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has implemented a requirement that a cetificate of analysis be provided on romaine lettuce imports from California. The regulation comes as a bit of a surprise to US producers, though Canada has had several issues with US E-Coli in the past few years. The testing is required romaine lettuce and products including romaine lettuce (i.e. salad mixes) from Santa Cruz, Santa Clara, San Benito, and Monterey counties and the testing program is in effect until December 31, 2020.
