The Canadian sunflower crop is expected to be quite strong in 2020 as the province of Manitoba, the leading producer, has increased the number of flowers planted from 25,500 to over 34,000. Prices are currently high as most of the 2019 crop is sold out. Sunflower seeds are typically used in baking or crushed into oil, but interestingly and due to COVID, there was an increased demand for birdfeed.
