Spanish authorities stopped intensive supervision of imports of canned tuna products from Indonesian exporters. Since 25 September 2017, the Spanish authorities have been monitoring canned tuna products intensively from an exporter from Indonesia. This was done as a cautionary action due to the Indonesia Canned Tuna histamine export case to Greek in 2017, which was reported through European Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF)

This decision is marked as an important point for the credibility of Indonesia's canned fish production in the global market. Spanish authorities recorded imports of canned tuna products with HS 1604.14 from Indonesia throughout 2020 of USD 7.84 million (Rp109.76 billion, exchange rate of Rp14,000). This value is down compared to 2019, which reached USD 10.27 million.
