Most of the buyers of tuna in the country come from Europe, and they prefer frozen tuna loins to be used in their food. Currently, because of the pandemic, there has been an increase in demand of value added tuna or those in cans, and demand for frozen ones decreased by 5%. Even local consumers prefer canned tuna which can be easily eaten when on lockdown. Thus, suppliers of frozen and fresh ones are trying to venture into value added tuna as it is more profitable now than others. This may continue til end of this year 2020.
