The price of carrots was high in all markets followed this week. In the region of São Gotardo (MG), the increase this week in relation to the previous one was quite significant, marking an average of 39%, with the “dirty” carrot being sold at R$ 25.00 /box (29kg) . According to collaborators, the end of the summer harvest, the harvest interval of some large producers and the productivity of the first winter areas, still at a not so high levels (65 mt / ha), which are the main drivers that contributed to the price hiking.
In the region of Cristalina (GO), practically all producers are in pause in the harvest, which significantly reduced the national supply in recent days and favored the increasing rates. In addition, the winter 2020 crop will have a smaller area compared to last year, which can also contribute to better farmer margins. As there should not be a significant increase in supply in the coming weeks, the expectation is that the values remain firm and above costs in August.
