Cassava in Tanzania is produced in all regions at various levels whereby about 80% of the produce is for home consumption and a small amount is used for animal feed and export. Cassava production in the country has been fluctuating year after year whereby available statistics show that from 2008 to 2019 Tanzania managed to record a significant increase from 5.9m tonnes in the 2008/2009 season to at least 8.2m tonnes in 2018/2019.
