Thanks to the ongoing free trade agreement, cherries from British Columbia will soon arrive in South Korea. Under the Canada-Korea Free Trade Agreement, tariffs have decreased from 24% to 8% in 6 years, with the complete elimination of tariffs set for 2024. British Columbia exported USD 78M of cherries in 2022, with South Korea being its 6th largest trade partner. Local farmers are actively growing the South Korean sector to take advantage of the reduced tariffs, and growth of the importance of South Korea is forecasted.
