When ASOEX found out that there were people repackaging imported frozen raspberries to export them to Canada as if they were Chilean raspberries, they reported this very incident to the competent authorities, such as the National Customs Service and the Former Direcon. This very situation impacts negativaly Chile's image as a serious exporting country and is detrimental to all the efforts that hundreds of producers and exporters in the country make to fully comply with international regulations. mentioned Ronald Bown, the President of the Fruit Exporters Association, ASOEX.
Any situation of this magnitude must be punished in a proper manner because it damages the image of the national export sector. ASOEX demands the culprits to be punished in an exemplary way with very strong sanctions. Chile self certitifies its exports to Canada and other destinations.
ASOEX regrets this very situation, which, despite being an isolated event, requires the adaptation of the most exhaustive measures.
