"In 2023, Chilean coho salmon exports reached 184.4 thousand metric tons (mt), a 2.5% year-over-year (YoY) increase from 179.9 thousand mt in 2022. Frozen head-on and gutted (H&G) products accounted for 73% of the exports, while the remaining 27% comprised fresh and frozen fillets. Despite this low growth, the harvest projections for the 2023/24 season are anticipated to be 30% YoY higher. Consequently, it is speculated that the difference in the exports is stored in cold storage facilities within Chile."
