Chinese government announced a ban on Taiwan's pineapple starting from March 1, 2021 on Feb 26, 2021 due to mealybug. According to a local exporter, more than 90% of pineapple goes to China, and they are mainly from Kaohsiung and Tainan region, and will go into peak season in May and June. Since the announcement of the ban, the Taiwan government has announced aid to help local exporters, including freight aid of 0.4-0.5USD/kg depending on the destination country. The orders of pineapple from Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore have been flooding in after the announcement of the aid.
