Vietnamese Crab Exports Surged in 2024, Led by China and Hong Kong Markets

According to Vietnam Customs, Vietnam's crab exports have continuously grown since the beginning of 2024. In Jun-24, the export value surged 71% year-on-year (YoY), reaching USD 28 million. Meanwhile, the export turnover amounted to USD 125 million in H1-24, marking a 75% YoY increase.

China and Hong Kong remain Vietnam's largest markets for crabs and other crustaceans, accounting for 43% of the total export turnover. The export value to these markets is increasing rapidly, with growth rates ranging from 3 to 4 digits compared to 2023 and maintaining continuous monthly growth. In Jun-24, crab and other crustacean exports to this market increased by 20 times compared to Jun-23, reaching nearly USD 13 million. Cumulatively, exports to this market reached nearly USD 54 million in H1-24, a 623% YoY increase. Furthermore, exports to the US and Canada are also experiencing positive growth, increasing 30% and 44% YoY, respectively.
