As the Rural Development Institute of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences published, China is estimated to have 130m MT of food shortages in the period of 2021 to 2015, which includes 25m MT of rice, corns and wheat.
The report estimates, in 2025, China's urbanization rate will reach 65.5%. More than 80m people will be moving from rural areas to cities. Therefore, population engaging in agricultural activity will be less than 20% of all population.
