China's pig herd grew again in July, considering the number of live animals and the stock of females, according to the country's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. According to a survey of the folder in 400 monitored municipalities, the national volume of live pigs increased 4.8% in July compared to June, registering the sixth consecutive monthly increase, with an increase of 13.1% in relation to July 2019.

The statement also highlights that the recovery of the herd encourages producers to invest in pigs breeding. According to the monitoring, 2,916 newly built large-scale hog farms were put into operation in July, reaching 9,093 new farms in operation in the year.

The ministry expects that the number of pigs ready for slaughter will gradually increase in August and that the domestic supply of pork will continue to improve until the end of the year. Yang said that the recovery of local production consists first of restoring the growth of the stock of breeding stock, then of restoring the growth of the stock of live pigs and then of increasing the slaughter of animals in order to resume the growth of supply.
