Clove Prices on Rise

The clove price at the start of the harvest experienced a price spike. Farmgate prices have increased partly due to the low yield during this early harvest and rising labor costs for the picking in almost all plantation areas. Meanwhile, the clove demand for local and international markets is high, thus pushing the FOB prices up. The clove harvest season usually begins in June, with peak production in September to October.
