Preparations in Ghana are underway for the 2022/23 cocoa season which begins in October. The regulator, the Ghana Cocobod, has maintained the producer price at USD 63/64kg/bag. Farmers are urging the regulator to increase the producer price by 30% to accommodate rising input costs and the depreciating Ghanaian cedi, since the prices have remained the same since 2020. Some producers are threatening to move away from cocoa production if the regulator does not accommodate their concerns.
