In the number one producing region of blueberries in Spain (Huelva province, Andalusia), there is widespread concern about the rise in general costs, progressively occurring over the past semester. The profitability of the production process is put at risk due to the huge increase in material costs such as plastic and carton, omnipresent along the production and packing process in any greenhouse and packing house.

Besides, the skyrocketing electricity rates for power consumption and the fuel increase also affect growers and exporters, both directly and indirectly, as many key players in the supply chain are involved (i.e., semi-automatic facilities, transportation, or forwarding partners). It appears that a rise in the final product is inevitable unless urgent incentives from regional or national governments can immediately benefit the stakeholders.
