The continuous heavy rains in southern India, the major coffee growing region, have led to the stoppage of coffee harvesting (cherry picking), and a production is estimated to decrease by 20 to 25%. A few suppliers have even stopped offering coffee beans to their customers until there is clear estimate regarding the production loss. Coffee growers are hoping to restart cherry picking from the Week 48 onwards if the rains subside.
