The continuous rainfalls in California until mid-January 2023 have impacted many fresh produce, not only the one in the season but also the one still in cultivation, particularly with sweet cherries. Many Californian cherry producers apply fertilizers in early January to grow trees that emerged from the dormant stage. But due to recent rainfall, the application process has been suspended and delayed. By keeping growers out of orchard entry itself, soils needed a drying period too, to make the proper application and effective usage of fertilizers. The growers are closely monitoring how much irregularity in the cultivation process may affect its harvest period, berry size growth, or overall production.
