Corn Production Volume Affected by Drought in the Garda Marta District in Southern Ethiopia

Severe drought has led to destruction of corn and other crops on 3,710ha of land in the Garda Marta district of Gamo Zone, Southern Ethiopia. 7,532,400kg (75,324 quintals) of corn and other crops were anticipated to be harvested in the 2021/22 season. About 32,275 families are facing food shortage due to the lack of rain resulting from the drought. The area has experienced drought for 2-3 years in a row, negatively affecting the agricultural activities such as severe lack of fodder for livestock.
