Canada's ginseng industry is suffering as COVID-19 has limited shipments of the niche product to key Asian markets. Canada is the world's second-largest exporter of ginseng with the majority of the crop shipped to Hong Kong, Mainland China, Taiwan, and Singapore, but travel restrictions have prevented buyers from being able to check crop quality before purchasing, which is limiting sales for farmers. May to July sales to Hong Kong decreased by two-thirds compared to the same period last year.
