In Bangladesh, heavy winter rains generated by the westerly low have caused catastrophic damage to wheat, maize, potato, vegetable, and spice farms in the first week of February 2022. Farmers that planted early summer vegetables, seasonal potatoes, and wheat suffered significant losses, despite market analysts forecasting a rise in these produce prices in the coming weeks.

According to the Bangladesh Wheat and Maize Research Institute, rain and strong winds seriously destroyed maize, wheat, and potato fields in the Dinajpur and Rangpur regions. As a result, standing wheat and maize plants have trembled in Dinajpur, Nilphamari, Thakurgaon, Panchagarh, and the principal wheat and maize growing districts Rangpur.
