The orange crop forecast for São Paulo and Minas Gerais, the main citrus-producing regions in Brazil, was released on May 10th, estimating a yield of 232.38 million boxes of 40.8 kilograms (kg) each for the 2024/25 season. This marks a significant decline of 24.36% year-on-year (YoY). The decrease is due to dry and hot weather conditions and the impact of greening disease. If confirmed, this volume would represent the lowest harvest in 36 years in these regions, which are crucial for Brazil's orange juice industry, the largest orange juice producer and exporter globally.
