Decreasing purchasing power in Iran causes red meat sales to drop by more than 30%

According to the Iranian Ministry of Agriculture, the country is expected to have produced 3.5 million tons of red meat and chicken meat combined by the end of the current fiscal year, March 2021, red meat reaching 880 KMT and chicken meat at 2.7 million tons respectively.

However, the Covid-19 outbreak and the decreasing purchasing power are said to be negatively affecting the consumption of red meat in particular.
Red meat sales have been reported to drop by more than 30% since the beginning of the current fiscal year.
