This season's harvest for Asparagus has started later due to weather conditions. Usually, by this time of the year in week 16, the sector is used to already having traded about 20% of the production. This year, Spain has not harvested half of the usual production. A wave of cold frost in February, the lack of sun in March due to the sand haze, and a storm in March highly affected the growing period of the plant, resulting in a loss of production which is expected to be up to 40%. Therefore, many suppliers are not open to new clients this year due to the lack of production which makes it impossible to meet their actual regular demand.
