Demand for Pakistani rice varieties

Pakistan's basmati rice exports have declined over the last year due to COVID-19 and tough competition from Indian suppliers. However, the demand for Irri-6 rice has increased during this time especially in the African countries. Irri-6 being the cheapest rice variety produced in Pakistan is gaining popularity among the African buyers who are importing it in huge quantities because of its low price.
