According to Myanmar local media and the South China Morning Post, many watermelons destined for the Chinese market have been abandoned on both sides of roads in Muse, in northern Shan State, after being unable to cross the border for a long time and rotting. As a result, damaged watermelons litter the highway at the exit of the 105-yard border trade zone, and many villagers nearby look for the intact ones to take away. There are also drivers selling watermelons on the spot at a low price of USD 0.57 per 3 pieces.
